The Student Assessment Guide and Learning Plan describes the evidence required to be competent in this unit.

You can compare track your progress by comparing it against unit requirements and at every stage of your learning and study you can get support from your iTAFE mentor and advisor.

Study Guide

There are many ways that you might choose to make your way through the unit. The diagram and suggested sessions (below) will help to plan your learning through the Use Business Technology unit. The sessions outlined below are a suggestion only - you may have another way that you prefer to study.


Session 1 - Pink Tiles

This includes: Selecting and Using Technology in the Events Industry
  • How to select and use appropriate technology and software applications
  • How to adjust work space, furniture and equipment to suit ergonomic requirements
  • How to use technology according to organisational requirements
A few points to think about for your blog:

- What is technology and do we reply on technology too much ?
- What would happen if we did not have the appropriate technology, software and hardware to complete a task ?
- What do you know about organisational requirements in your workplace or at school ?

Session 2 - Aqua Tiles

This includes: Processing and Organising Data
  • How to identify, open, generate or amend files
  • How to operate input devices
  • How to store data
  • Using manuals, training books or online help to overcome difficulties
A few points to think about for your blog:

- What input devices do you use in your every day life ?
- When was the last time you used a manual or called the help desk ?

Session 3 - Yellow Tiles


This includes: Maintaining Technology
  • Identifying and replacing used consumables
  • Carrying out and arranging routine maintenance
  • Identifying equipment faults
A few points to think about for your blog:

- What is the latest gadget you have recently used or purchased ?
- What do you think causes and equipment fault ?
